GOD'S PLAN OF SALVATION VERSES

GOD'S PLAN OF SALVATION IN ROMANS 3:21-26

Hebrew 9:6-12 - "When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry.  But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.  The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing.  This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.  They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order. When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation.  He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption."

Isaiah 53:6 - "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."

Jeremiah 31:31-34 - " 'The time is coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.  It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,' declares the LORD.  'This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,'  declares the LORD.  'I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts.  I will be their God, and they will be my people.  No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,' declares the LORD.  'For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

REDEMPTION?

Matthew 20:28 -"just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

I Peter 1:18,19 - "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers,"

Revelation 5:9 - "And they sang a new song:  'You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation."

Ephesians 1:7 - "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace"

Colossians 1:14 - "in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."

PROPITIATION?

I John 2:2 - "He is the atoning sacrifice [propitiation] for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world."

RECONCILIATION?

II Corinthians 5:18-20 - "All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them.  And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God."

Romans 5:10,11 - "For if, when were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!  Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation."

Colossians 1:20-22 - "and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood shed on the cross.  Once you were alienated and enemies in your minds because of you evil behavior.  But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation"

WHY IS THERE SUCH AN EMPHASIS ON JESUS' BLOOD?

Hebrews 9:22 - "In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."

Hebrews 10:19 -"Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,"

I Peter 1:18,19 - "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."

WHAT DO "VICARIOUS" AND "SUBSTITUTION" MEAN?

Luke 22:19,20 - "And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.'  In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."

John 10:15 - "just as the Father knows me and I know the Father---and I lay down my life for the sheep."

Romans 5:8 - "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Galatians 3:13 - "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.'"

Titus 2:13,14 - "while we wait for the blessed hope----the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."

I Peter 3:18 - "For Christ died for sins, once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.  He was put to death in the body but made alive in the spirit."

IMPUTATION?

Romans 5:12 - "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death come to all men, because all sinned."

Isaiah 53:4-6 - "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him and afflicted.  But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

II Corinthians 5:21 - "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

RANSOM VIEW?

Matthew 20:28 - "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

EXAMPLE VIEW?

I Peter 2:21 - "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps."

VICARIOUS PROPITIATION VIEW?

I Peter 2:24 - "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."

I Peter 3:18 - "For Christ died for sins, once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.  He was put to death in the body but made alive in the spirit."
