EVANGELISM VERSES

1. Comfort zone
Luke 9:23,24 - "Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.  For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it."

Luke 14:26,27 - "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters---yes, even his own life---he cannot be my disciple."

Philippians 2:5-8 - "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death---even death on a cross!"

Romans 1:14 - "I am obligated [indebted] both to Greek and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish." 1:15 - "That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are at Rome."  1:16 - "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes."

2. Natural contacts
Matthew 9:36 - "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."

Luke 5:29-32 - "Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.  But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, 'Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and 'sinners'?'  Jesus answered them, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  I have not come to call
the righteous, but sinners to repentance.'"

Matthew 4:19 - "'Come, follow me.' Jesus said, 'and I will make you fishers of men."

3. Build relationships
Matthew 10:24-33 - "A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.  It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master.  If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household!  'So do not be afraid of them.  There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed or hidden that will not be made known.  What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.  Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.  Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell….Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father who is in heaven.  But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven."

Luke 9:57-62 - "As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, 'I will follow you wherever you go.'  Jesus replied, 'Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.'  He said to another man, 'Follow me.'  But the man replied, 'Lord, first let me go and bury my father.'  Jesus said to him, 'Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.'  Still another said, 'I will follow you, Lord, but first let me go back and say good-by to my family.'  Jesus replied, 'No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.'"

I Corinthians 9:19-23 - "Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.  To the Jews I become like a Jew, to win the Jews.  To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.  To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law.  To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.  I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some."

4. Transition to spiritual`
John 4:10-12 - "Jesus answered her, 'If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.  'Sir,' the woman said, 'you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep.  Where can you get this living water?  Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?' "

Colossians 4:3,4 - "And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ for which I am in chains.  Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should."

Matthew 10:16 - "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves.  Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves."

John 6:32-35 - "Jesus said to them, 'I'll tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.  For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.'  Sir, they said, 'from now on give us this bread.'  Then Jesus declares, 'I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."

Acts 17:24-31 - "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.  And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.  From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.  God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.  For in him we live and move and have our being.  As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'  Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone---an image made by man's design and skill.  In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.  For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.  He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.'  When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, 'We want to hear again on this subject.'"

Matthew 5:3 - "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

5. Develop spiritually-oriented relationships
I Timothy 2:1,3 - "I urge you, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone….This is good, and pleases God our savior who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."

Colossians 4:5,6 - "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.  Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."
John 1:40-42 - "Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.  The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, 'We have found the Messiah' (that is, the Christ).  And he brought him to Jesus.  Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John.  You will be called Cephas' (which, when translated, is Peter.).

Matthew 5:3 - "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

John 4:35 - "Do you not say, 'Four months and then the harvest?  I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields!  They are ripe for harvest."

I Peter 3:15 - "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect,"

6. Present Gospel
I Corinthians 15:1-4 - "Now brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken you stand.  By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you.  Otherwise, you have believed in vain.  For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures"

Acts 16:30,31 - He [the jailer] then brought them out and asked, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?'  They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved---you and your household.'"
