LIFE

1. Have you ever made a New Year's resolution?  Have you ever tried to break an addiction or a bad habit on your own?  What happened?

2. Can you identify with Paul?  "For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do----this I keep on doing….What a wretched man I am!  Who will rescue me from this body of death?" (Romans 7:19,24)

3. What is the answer?  You are no longer the old you, but you are now the new you!

The old you:  "For the old self was crucified with him so that the body of            sin might by done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin."            (Romans 6:6)

The new you:  "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;            the old has gone, the new has come!" (II Corinthians 5:17)  "To them            God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches            of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians            1:27)  "and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true            righteousness and holiness." (Ephesians 4:24)  "His divine power has            given us everything we need for life and godliness through our            knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.             Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so            that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape            the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." (II Peter 1:3,4)

4. Do you believe this is true?  Do you see anything in your life that shows that this is true?

Galatians 2:20:  "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
