With God's light, we go from darkened thinking to spiritually enlightened thinking

1. A character in a play by Shakespeare said the following:  "Life is a tale told
by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." (Macbeth)

King Solomon said the following about "life under the sun" (life when we only live it for ourselves):  "The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem: 'Meaningless! Meaningless!' says the Teacher.  'Utterly meaningless!  Everything is meaningless.'  What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?  Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.  The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.  The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.  All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.  All things are wearisome, more than one can say."

2. Have you ever had a time when you felt that your life was empty and meaningless?

3. God has opened your spiritual eyes and brought you into His light.  You now know that life has a purpose and that you have a purpose.  What do you believe is the purpose to life?  What do you believe is your purpose in life?

4. What do you believe is the meaning of these words of Solomon:  "He has also set eternity in the hearts of men" (from Ecclesiastes 3:11)?

5. What does Ephesians 1:11,12 tell you about your purpose in life?

Ephesians 1:11,12:  "In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory."
