31-40 - Digging For Gold

1. How does a nation determine what is right and what is wrong? Here is one way that our nation can make that decision: We can vote on it. Is there anything improper about this method of determining right and wrong?
2. What do you think about this statement: "That is your truth and it is okay for you, but it is not my truth"?
3. Listen to what the Bible has to say about what the world says is right and wrong: "they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it." (Isaiah 3:9) "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil;" (Isaiah 5:20) "Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie…" (Romans 1:24,25) "Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity with a continual lust for more." (Ephesians 4:19)
4. Now, listen to what the Bible has to say about and to every true Christian: "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves." (Colossians 1:19) "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place,…" (Ephesians 5:3,4) "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret." (Ephesians 5:11-13)
5. How should our understanding of what is right and wrong, what is pure and impure, what is holy and unholy affect our lives as Christians?
