With God's love, we can go from enslaving emotions to liberating emotions.

1. In Psalm 38:2, David says these words: "My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden to heavy to bear."  Have you ever felt like David felt?

2. Then, in Psalms 32:3-5, David says these words: "When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.  For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Selah  Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.  I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the LORD '- and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah"

Can you give an example of a time when you were wrong, but did not admit it for some time.  What was it like when you did confess and admit that you were wrong before God? (You may have confessed your sin before God and you may also have confessed your sins to a person or to persons.)

3. I John 1:9 has been called the Christian's bar of soap:  "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."  Why do you believe it is called this?

4. Why do you believe God can and does forgive our sins when we admit it before Him: "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our sins, but also for the sins of the whole world." (I John 2:2)
