                                      LORDSHIP OF GOD
                                      INTENTIONS OF GOD
                                      GREATNESS OF GOD
                                      HOLINESS OF GOD
                                      TRIUNITY OF GOD*

1. A pastor described the Trinity in the following way:  1+1+1=1.  A young girl in the Church meeting said: "No, it = 3."  Both the pastor and the young girl were right, God is both three and one.  He is the Triunity or the Trinity.

2. Apart from the Bible giving us light on Who God is, we would never have come to the conclusion that God is Three and One.  But, the Bible is clear.  First of all, God is one:  "You believe that there is one God.  Good!  Even the demons believe that and shudder." (James 2:19)  The Bible is also clear, God is three persons:  "As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water.  At that moment heaven was opened, and he [1] saw [2] the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him, and [3] a voice from heaven said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." (Matthew 4:16,17)

3. Three persons have eternally existed in perfect unity.  That is God's goal for our relationships:  "My prayer is not for them alone [His 12 disciples].  I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message [us], that all of them may be one." (John 17:20,21b)

4. God's goal is that the Church will experience its oneness and be one as God is one.  God's goal for marriage is also oneness:  "So they are no longer two, but one." (Matthew 19:6b)

5. What are some ways that there can be oneness in the Church and in a marriage (Ephesians 4:4-6, 11-16; Col 4:19)

John 17:21 - Ephesians 5:8,9 - "that all of them may be one.  Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.  May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
