1. How do men determine whether or not we have value?
• "We do not classify or compare ourselves with some who commend
themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves, they are not wise." (they are withou understanding) (II Corinthians 10:12) What is wrong with comparing ourselves with others to determine our value?
• "But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his
height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." (I Samuel 16:7) How does men's valuation of us differ from God's valuation of us? (examples of each?)
2. Does God value us?
- • "For you know it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect." (I Peter 1:18,19)
- • "Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:27)
- • "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs---heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ." (Romans 8:16,17)
- • "Now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." (I John 3:2)
Using these verses, in what ways has God shown to us that He values
us? How are you of value to God?
